Yewtree Cafe in Birmingham’s B25 area strikes a balance between a traditional local diner and a contemporary café with some thoughtful touches. Located on Church Road, this spot has that familiar, easygoing vibe characteristic of community-centric cafés, making it a solid choice for a relaxed breakfast or a casual midday stop.

The café’s interior suggests recent updates that keep it feeling fresh without losing its approachable charm. One notable feature is a small garden space at the back, which adds a quieter, more private option for those who prefer outdoor seating — an appealing setting for catching up over coffee or even imagining a low-key get-together later in the day.

Yewtree’s menu leans on classic diner fare with hearty breakfast options like traditional and vegetarian breakfasts, alongside generous mains such as burgers, pizza, and a locally nostalgic dish like “Desperate Dan’s Pie” served with chips and beans or peas. Portions tend to be substantial, catering well to those craving a filling meal after a morning out or a day of errands. The drinks selection covers expected café staples including teas, coffees, and a range of soft drinks, making it easy to find something to suit a quick refresh.

The customer experience tends to highlight friendly, genuine service with staff who create a welcoming atmosphere. This feeling of warmth seems to be a key part of its appeal, especially for those who value a café that doubles as a community spot rather than just a quick food stop.

Locals and visitors alike use Yewtree for varied reasons — whether it’s fueling up after a thrift shopping excursion, enjoying a casual coffee break, or grabbing a robust breakfast. The café’s steady flow throughout the day suggests it’s dependable for both early birds and those looking for a midday respite. It feels most suited to anyone who appreciates straightforward comfort food and a genuine local setting without the rush or pretension.

We came all the way from Australia to have breakfast here and it was well worth it! Absolutely cracking food and lovely people. We shall return (probably tomorrow)!

Had the dirty chicken burger, portions were huge and couldn’t finish it. Would go back another time

We popped in here today as we were out thrift shopping. Jacket potatoes were lovely and very reasonable priced. Not sure how new this place is but it seems to have had a recent refurb or newly opened. Cute style interior and a surprising little garden in the back where I immediately could see myself drinking a cocktail with a few girlfriends or hosting a party day or evening. Only thing I'd add is some more greenery and colour.

We popped in yesterday for a tea and coffee whilst on our travels and the service was good. The man who served us was polite and friendly and the atmosphere was a positive one. Good looking menu including an upcoming valentines day menu. I would definately like to come here with my husband, it seems cafe's are a dying breed and it was nice to see what looks like a family run business.

Karen's Cafe, which is now called Yew Tree Cafe, is always a pleasure to visit. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. The only reason I haven't given the food a 5 star rating is because I've only tried their breakfast items and their cakes. I highly recommend them, but I haven't tried anything from the rest of the menu yet, so I can't comment on it. I will say that if it's anything like the breakfast items, you can't go wrong. Definitely my first choice cafes.

Today I had the pleasure of enjoying the quarter pounder burger meal with skin on fries and a large mocha from Karen's Cafe. The food and drink was of a very high quality, delicious and fantastic value for money ! The staff there are all excellent, very friendly and lovely atmosphere & room decor is vibrant and colourful. My burger (easily the most tastiest burger I've ever enjoyed!) was juicy and packed full of flavour, the skin on fries were perfect & as someone who drinks alot of coffee and has been to cafes all across the Midlands, the coffee here is undoubtedly the best coffee i have ever drank ! If your looking for a cafe, then look no further, Karen's Cafe has something for everyone to enjoy ! I look forward to my next visit
